About Me

Not an actual photo of me.

Not an actual photo of me.

I’m the Dad from “This Dad Cooks”, but you can call me Bill.

I posted an article welcoming everyone to my site and giving you probably way more information than you wanted to know about me already, and I’ll link to that here for you, so you can go back and read up on it, no matter when you happened to stumble across my little blog.

Here’s the rundown, just in case you don’t want to go clicking all around the place:

I’m a happily married father of four boys. At the time of this writing, we’ve been married nearly 14 years. If you’re reading this in two years, then it will be almost 16 years of marriage. See how that works?

I own my own small business creating vehicle graphics and signs, and work from home. My wife also works from home, but as a teleworker. We’re around each other ALL. THE. TIME.  The first question we usually get is “How the hell do you manage to be around each other that much and not commit murder?”  It’s not so bad when you get along pretty good most of the time. Plus, we get wrapped up in our work, so it’s not like we’re constantly up each other’s butt trying to get someone’s attention or interrupt them.

Anyway, I do most of the cooking here.  Not because my wife can’t cook, she can. It’s my way of contributing to the household duties. She’s kind (and brave) enough to take care of my laundry, so I try to cook the meals.

I’ve gotten pretty good at it too.

And that’s why I’ve started this site. To share some of my life and experiences with anyone who’s interested in reading about it. We don’t live glamorous lives, we struggle with the bills from time to time and we’re not jetting off to foreign exotic locations for vacation every few months. If we’re lucky, we’re able to sneak down to Myrtle Beach or Gatlinburg, TN once a year for a few days and try to enjoy ourselves.

We work to be thrifty and make the food budget stretch as far as it will. I do most all of the home repairs and improvements that need done, because there’s no way we’re going to be paying $75/hour and up for a plumber to come fix a leaky valve.

I have a sort of hobby ADD affliction. I get into things and try to learn how to do them all the time. Much to the chagrin of my bride. To her credit, though, she hasn’t tried to force Ritalin on me yet. I will be sharing some of my hobbies and projects with you here too.

I’m always open to hearing from you and what you have to say. So please feel free to comment on the site and send me emails if you wish. I may not be able to answer every single one, I’m a busy guy most days, but I will absolutely read them.

Here’s hoping you find my little blog worth your time, and I look forward to “meeting” you along the way.
